E-Learning Days: If we know the night before or the weather is too dangerous to be outside, we’ll likely use an E-Learning Day.
E-Learning Day Schedule:
Students in grades 5–12 will follow the SIP schedule from 8:00–12:30.
Teachers will post their Google Meet link at 8:00 AM in Classroom. Teachers will take attendance for each class and students are expected to be present and engaged. E-learning days are considered to be a school day, so we don't have to make these up. As such, we will all treat these days like a regular learning opportunity, just as we would if we were in the building.
-Our school newspaper has officially gone digital. It’s now a school blog! For more information or to get your writing added, email or talk with Mr. Sullivan.

Final Exams for first semester will take place December 17, 18, and 19.
All high school courses will have a final exam. However, students may qualify to exempt up to three finals — with only one exemption allowed in a core class — if the following criteria are met:
Final Exam Exemption Requirements
To qualify, students must have:
4 or fewer excused absences (non-medical, including mental health days)
NO unexcused absences
5 or fewer tardies
5 or fewer discipline referrals
An 85% or higher in the course you want to exempt
NO grades lower than 70% in any course
NO in school or out of school suspensions
Final exemption lists will be reviewed and approved by the Principal.
A running list of students who currently meet the exemption criteria will be available soon.
Students: Now is a great time to review your attendance in Skyward and make sure it is accurate. Stay on track and finish the semester strong!

"Tonight was special.
For the first time since 2010 the Lady Cyclones start the season 1-0, beating a tough Rushville team that beat us by 31 just nine months ago. 54-45.
On top of that, our JV didn’t win a game last season. Tonight they changed that, taking care of business winning 41-14.
We have a tough road ahead of us, but I’m excited to see how they respond to the challenges. Very proud of them all."

E-Learning Day Schedule:

NO unexcused absences
5 or fewer tardies
5 or fewer discipline referrals
An 85% or higher in the course you want to exempt

Eight of our Cyclone student-athletes were selected to attend the IHSA Student Leadership Conference today!
We are incredibly proud to have these leaders representing West Prairie as they joined students from across the state for a day of growth, connection, and inspiration.
The conference featured dynamic guest speakers and small-group breakout sessions led by the IHSA Student Advisory Committee. The goal: to strengthen leadership skills and address the real, contemporary issues facing high school students today.
Throughout the day, our students rotated between keynote speakers and the SAC-led breakout sessions, gaining practical tools, insights, and inspiration they can bring back to our school community.
We can’t wait to see how they use today’s experience to lead, uplift, and inspire others at West Prairie!

Research in Action at WPJSHS!
Students in Mrs. Gravina’s class spent the day at Western Illinois University exploring a wide range of academic sources. Using both the physical collection and online research databases, students gathered high-quality evidence to support the extended research papers they are writing in class.
We love seeing our Cyclones engage with college-level research tools and take ownership of their learning!

Final Exams for first semester will take place December 17, 18, and 19.
All high school courses will have a final exam. However, students may qualify to exempt up to three finals — with only one exemption allowed in a core class — if the following criteria are met:
Final Exam Exemption Requirements
To qualify, students must have:
4 or fewer excused absences (non-medical, including mental health days)
NO unexcused absences
5 or fewer tardies
5 or fewer discipline referrals
An 85% or higher in the course you want to exempt
NO grades lower than 70% in any course
Final exemption lists will be reviewed and approved by the Principal.
A running list of students who currently meet the exemption criteria will be available soon.
Students: Now is a great time to review your attendance in Skyward and make sure it is accurate. Stay on track and finish the semester strong!

-Our school newspaper has officially gone digital. It’s now a school blog! Click this link to be taken there, and subscribe so you receive email notifications when a new post goes live! While the journalism class is leading the way, we want this to be a space for all student voices. If you have an article idea, opinion piece, or story you’d like to share, we’d love to feature it. Student guest writers are welcome to contribute to the blog. For more information or to get your writing added, email or talk with Mr. Sullivan.

-Drama Club will meet today after school for a brief meeting. Anyone who is interested in participating in our fall skit at North Elementary's Family Reading Night needs to attend the meeting. If you are unable to attend the meeting but are still interested in having a part, please see Mrs. Gravina or Mr. Sullivan.
-Attention students! If you want to be a Cyclone cheerleader, come to open gym Wednesday, October 29 to practice and get ready! Tryouts will be held on Thursday, October 30. Show your school spirit and bring your best Cyclone energy!

-The October meeting of West Prairie's new Spanish Club will meet during both lunch hours today. Bring your lunch to room 108--you don't have to be in Spanish class to join!
-Science club will meet today after school in Mr. Chatterton's room. We will be going over activities for a science fair and discussing a field trip for the Spring. We should probably be done by 3:30. If you are unable to make it please talk to Mr. Chatterton.

Congratulations to Remington Ford and Kate Beck for advancing to Cross Country State on Saturday.
ATTENTION Don’t get left behind!!! WorldStrides is offering families a $50.00 discount off the cost of the Washington DC trip! If you registered during the fall meetings or you get registered before October 10th, you will receive an additional $50.00 off! Don’t be left out! Deadline: OCTOBER 10th!!
JH Boys Basketball open gym is open to all 5th-8th grade boys interested in participating in basketball this season. Open Gym will include strength/conditioning workouts, skill development, & competitive training. An active sports physical must be on hand at the school, please check with the office to see if yours is current.
Reminder that Boys Basketball Camp for 1st–8th graders will run Oct. 13–17.
