September 20–26, West Prairie Junior Senior High School will celebrate Homecoming 2026 with this year’s theme, "Once Upon a Time / Fairy Tales.”

The week is packed with spirit days, Powderpuff, Cyclone Volleyball, Ironman, our pep assembly and parade, Friday night’s Homecoming football game against Galva, and the Homecoming Dance on Saturday.

The West Prairie Jr. High Baseball team will compete in the Hancock County Invitational on Saturday, August 29, in LaHarpe!

Their second game will be played at 3:00 p.m., with the location determined by the outcome of the first game.

Tuesday was a busy day for Cyclone Athletics, with JH baseball, JH softball, and HS golf all competing! JH BASEBALL The Cyclones earned an impressive 11-1 win over Hamilton! Brady Carnes pitched four innings of one-run baseball on just 47 pitches, with Maddox Reed adding an inning in relief. Braddock, Ledger, Levi, and Rhys each had multiple hits, including a 4-for-4 day from Ledger. Jett Zimmerman added the defensive play of the day with a running catch down the left-field line! The Cyclones host BPC Thursday at 4:30 p.m. and Southeastern Friday at 4 p.m., both at Friendway Park. After Friday’s game, they’ll head to WPHS for Meet the Cyclones Night! JH SOFTBALL The Cyclones traveled to Beardstown Tuesday, falling 15-2. Graclynn H. led West Prairie at the plate, going 2-for-2, while Violet W. added two stolen bases. Wednesday’s game against United was postponed in the 4th inning due to weather with the Cyclones trailing 12-9. Information about the continuation will be shared when available. HS GOLF The Cyclone golfers opened their season Tuesday at the Rushville-Industry Invite with a strong first performance, keeping right up with Rushville-Industry and finishing just a few strokes behind. STRONGER EVERY DAY! What a summer for our West Prairie Strength & Conditioning Program! A huge thank you to Tim and Marc for the outstanding coaching, energy, and leadership they brought throughout the summer. Just as impressive was the commitment from our WP athletes who showed up ready to work, compete, and get better. The strength gained this summer goes far beyond the weight room.
