Cyclones High School Track showed up big today at BPC!
As reported by Coach Kerns: Great day for a meet! Our young team continues to grow and shine. Mr. Lommel and I couldn’t be happier, walking away from today with a strong showcase of WP grit and determination, despite being the smallest team at the meet... and grabbing a couple of medals!
Big highlights:
Boys 4x1 & 4x2 took third tonight.
The Mile Relay also took 3rd.
Micheal Lynn also PR’d in high Jump.
And Collin Cerven threw a PR in Shot Put.

Congrats to our Junior High Track team on a great day Saturday at the Bobby Dunlap Relays at United! This is always a fun meet, and our Cyclones showed up—finishing 3rd overall!

Due to impending inclement weather, all games and practices this afternoon have been cancelled.
Cyclones walk it off!
On Wednesday, West Prairie/Southeastern Varsity defeated Seymour Payson 2–1 in 8 innings, capped by a game-winning RBI single from Mason Whitman. Strong pitching from Riebling and DeCounter - along with aggressive base running - sealed the win.

Cyclone Track was in action at South Fulton today, and it turned into one of those unforgettable meets.
Gabe said it best: “This might be the best day of my life.”
Coach Kerns quickly added, “I think it’s important that I note that’s after running an open 400 and the 4x400.”
To wrap things up, our entire team—girls and boys—lined up and raced each other in the 4x4. Competitive, loud, and full of energy… exactly what high school athletics does best.
Yes, it was a chaotic meet—but moments like this are what matter most.
Coach Kerns reminds us all what’s truly important: joy, connection, effort, and creating experiences our kids will remember for a lifetime.
Proud of this group and grateful for coaches who make a difference every day!

Cyclone Nation — this is something to celebrate!
Mr. Kerns and a group of West Prairie students recently had the incredible opportunity to attend Youth Day with MTC and McDonough Power. We had four students represent West Prairie—Timothy and Meg (sponsored by McDonough Power) and West and Lilly (sponsored by MTC).
Throughout the day, students explored how cooperatives operate, visited the Illinois State Capitol, met with Senator Neil Anderson on the Senate floor, heard from State Treasurer Mike Frerichs, and toured the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum.
Out of 20 students in attendance, all four of our West Prairie students were selected by the Association of Illinois Electric Cooperative committee as top applicants and invited to interview for the Youth Tour to Washington, D.C.
We are proud to share that Timothy and Meg were selected by McDonough Power, and Lilly was selected by MTC to participate in the Youth Tour.
This is an outstanding accomplishment and a reflection of the leadership, character, and effort our students demonstrate every day!
