Our PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) program includes positive phone calls home whenever students get a "Hats Off" from the teacher. It is one of the best parts of my day! And, today started out with 4! These students really showed off how respectful, responsible and safe they are and it does not go unnoticed.

Our reading curriculum is called ARC, American Reading Company. Within this framework our students read independently for at least 30 minutes a day. Then, they also are supposed to be reading at home each night. We log these "steps" of reading into a program along with many of their reading accomplishments. Cyclones are READERS!

Mrs. Shipman would like to extend a HUGE thank you to Diann Sugden from the U of I Extension Office. Diann prepared a fun event for our preschoolers and their families called Eat, Play, Grow. The children learned about healthy foods and moving their bodies with a fun craft, some physical activity and a variety of healthy snacks, all the while focusing on using their 5 senses. We all had such a fun time and are excited to have Diann join us again at WPNE soon!

Our students returned to school this week and practiced all the ways we are respectful, responsible and safe at school. Each school environment has different expectations. We reviewed them all with staff and we are all set to have a safe, respectful and responsible New Year and 2nd Semester!
