WIU Homecoming free tickets for our leaders. Teachers were asked to nominate only one student in their class who exemplifies leadership; being a good role model for others, respectful, responsible and safe at all times. And, they had to have a good attendance record. We were to draw out three students from those to get a fun day at WIU's homecoming game. One family had 3 children nominated in 3 classes so they got to count as one and we also drew out the 4th grade leader and the kindergarten leader. They all went and had pizza too! WIU will do this again for a women's basketball game and other athletic events. Our students are excited for the opportunity to maybe be theirs.

WPNE 2nd grade was able to visit Good Hope Gardens today! We learned the difference between pumpkins, gourds, and squash. We also got to see all the different varieties of pumpkins they have available.

Special Person Day was a huge hit! We had lots of very special people enjoying our students and the school. Thank you to everyone who came.

Our students are enjoying learning about careers in music! Managers (attendance & teacher helpers), Conductors (music leaders), Roadies (set-up & clean-up), & Publicists (photographers & recorders of what we do in class). Our Publicists in 2nd, 3rd, & 4th grade captured some fun photos of music time, including two of our Conductors in action! We've been learning new dances and moving to music with the parachute, too.

Belated Social Media Birthday Wishes for our one and only District Nurse Mrs. Kortney Burling!

Happy Birthday to Miss Spriet. She celebrated on her birthday, August 28th. She enjoyed her staff and student signed poster and some of her favorites, an iced vanilla latte with oat-milk and Dots cinnamon sugar pretzels and students!

Today in Miss Spriet's PE class, the students were challenged to run as long as they could without stopping with a maximum of 10 minutes. Pictured are fifteen students, Kindergarten through 3rd grade, that reached the 10 minute mark!

Happy Birthday to the amazing Emily Ebey! Emily celebrated her birthday on August 22nd with her 1st grade class. She enjoyed some of her favorite things, white cheddar popcorn, unsweetened tea and school!

Friday, August 30th is Ag Awareness Day! Students in k-6 with field trip permissions on file will travel to Colchester. We will be gone from the building from 8:30 - 11:00. It is also an early dismissal day. PreK will stay back and enjoy their classrooms.

Monday will be a lockdown drill with our resource officer, Cody Lovell. Tuesday we will practice a fire drill. And, on Wednesday we will make sure students are ready for a tornado or related severe weather. We will explain each drill before conducting them, but please talk to your student and prepare them with the understanding that these are not real events but planned practices. We are looking forward to an important week of school safety preparation. Have you planned on how to keep your student safe at home in these scenarios? It is important to have safety plans at home too. Use our drill week to plan for your own safety at home too.
