SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENTS:

-Breakfast - students are not permitted to eat breakfast in classrooms.  Breakfast items must stay in the cafeteria.  If a student shows up to a classroom with breakfast items, please send them back to the cafeteria.  

-The Tabletop Gaming Club will be meeting on Friday, October 10, in Mr. Chatterton's room. The meeting will start immediately after school and will end around 4:45. We will be planning the games for our next couple of meetings, and taking some time to play a game. All are welcome at the table.

-Our school newspaper has officially gone digital. It’s now a school blog! Click this link to be taken there, and subscribe so you receive email notifications when a new post goes live! While the journalism class is leading the way, we want this to be a space for all student voices. If you have an article idea, opinion piece, or story you’d like to share, we’d love to feature it. Student guest writers are welcome to contribute to the blog. For more information or to get your writing added, email or talk with Mr. Sullivan.

HIGH SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS:

-Congratulations to the varsity WP High School Volleyball Team on their 3rd place finish in the Riverton Fall Classic Tournament this past weekend. The girls finished with a 3-1 overall record, losing to Riverton in a 3-set match, and beating Champaign Centennial, Springfield Southeast, and Payson-Seymour. 

The team was paced offensively by Niah Zimmerman with 21 kills and Alyvia Barkley with 15 kills. Madelynn Sullivan & Macy Branch led the team from the service line, scoring 27 and 22 points respectively.

On the defensive side of the ball, Abby Starbuck had 24 digs, Madelynn Sullivan had 25 digs, Niah Zimmerman had 19 digs, and Alyvia Barkley had 26 digs.

Also, an overdue congratulations to the WP JV High School Volleyball team on their tournament victory last weekend in the annual West Prairie JV Tournament. The girls had a perfect day, going 5-0 against Macomb, Illini West, Southeastern, and Monmouth United.

Our next game is on Wednesday, 10/8 here at the high school against Southeastern. It is also our Breast Cancer awareness fundraiser, some come dressed in pink!

DETAILS FROM THE DIRECTOR OF STUDENT SERVICES

National Honor Society Members: There will be a brief meeting after school today. Please plan to attend.

Tomorrow, October 7th a representative from the University of Illinois will be here during 6th hour. Please see Mrs. Overstreet for a pass if you would like to speak with them. 

There will be a representative from Spoon River College here during both lunch periods this Thursday the 9th and one from the University of Illinois - Springfield during lunch this Friday the 10th. 

Next Monday, October 13th is a No School Day. Juniors and Seniors, this is a great day to do a college visit. If you need help scheduling a visit, see Mrs. Overstreet.

ATTENTION Don’t get left behind!!!  WorldStrides is offering families a $50.00 discount off the cost of the Washington DC trip!  If you registered during the fall meetings or you get registered before October 10th, you will receive an additional $50.00 off!  Don’t be left out!  Deadline: OCTOBER 10th!!


JH Boys Basketball open gym is open to all 5th-8th grade boys interested in participating in basketball this season. Open Gym will include strength/conditioning workouts, skill development, & competitive training. An active sports physical must be on hand at the school, please check with the office to see if yours is current.
