Homecoming Theme - "BWP Got Game" (game night)

HOMECOMING Dance Request Forms are now available in the office.  If you plan to bring an "out of town" guest to the homecoming dance, you need to fill out the dance request form and have it to the office by Friday, September 27th.  Homecoming dance is Saturday, October 5th.

Pepsi Grid Iron Challenge - we need all students to bring in your Pepsi product CAPS to the Pepsi barrel in the foyer.  We have the chance to win $10,000 for our school by the end of October.  Go to pepsigridironchallenge.com to learn more.

Students: If you plan to ride a different bus to any location you need to fill out a Transportation Request For Alternative Drop-Off form and arrange this at least 3 days in advance and those forms can be picked up in the office.

Dance Clinic: WIU's University Dance theatre (UDT) presents Dancin' Around the World, a dance clinic for anyone in the surrounding school districts.  The clinic is $20 per student.  Pre-registration is due by Sept. 16th (in order to guarantee a t-shirt).  You may still register your student after the pre-registration date or the morning of clinic, but will not be guaranteed a t-shirt.  The clinic is Saturday, Sept. 28th from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm (registration begins at 8:30 am)  Registration forms are in the office.

University Dance Theatre will host Jr. UDT - this is a program for students in grades 6-12 to pair up with a WIU dance theatre member for the season!  You will have opportunity to create own dance as a group with the help of UDT members, and will perform in the UDT Emerging Choreographer Showcase performance in Hainline Theatre on December 7th, 2019.  The cost is $30 which includes 3-4 rehearsals and activities relating with your mentor.  Registration forms are in the office.

Student Reminder: Tardy Policy - When the bell rings for the beginning of any class period, all students should be in their classrooms with all of their materials.  Students tardy to class must present a pass from the office or from the faculty member in whose class they were detained.  If the student is late to school in the morning, the student must obtain a pass from the secretary or principal.  Tardies are cumulative over a semester.  After the third tardy reported to the office from any teacher/all sources, a detention will be assigned.

Students: McDonough Telephone Cooperative will be hosting a one-day, hands-on workshop for students interested in pursuing a degree in the computer information or IT field.  See Ms. Logan before Friday if you are interested in learning more.

WPHS Homework Help Consequences for 2019-2020

If you are assigned to Homework Help and choose not to attend, there will be consequences.

First Offense: Ms. Salyers or Mr. Cox will help you call your parent and explain to them that you have been assigned to Homework Help and need to stay until 3:35 to complete missing assignments to help you bring your grade up.

Second Offense:  Lunch Detention

Third Offense:  After School Detention

Fourth & Successive Offenses:  In-School Suspension or Saturday School

The goal of Homework Help is to help you develop the ability to meet deadlines as well as to improve your grades by submitting work that would otherwise receive a zero. Leaving school at 3:10 is a privilege given to students who are meeting academic and behavioral expectations. No excuses will be accepted for missing Homework Help. If you don’t want to attend, turn in your assignments when they are due - Deadlines Matter!

You DO NOT have to be assigned to Homework Help to stay for help. Our teachers are available from 3:10 - 3:35 daily. If you would like to go to the Homework Help classroom while you are waiting on a bus or for an activity, you are welcome to use that as a quiet place to get your work done.
