College Bound: Practical Tips for Students and Parents

West Prairie High School is excited to announce an upcoming presentation by Dr. Melissa Griswold on September 25th, 6:30-7:30 p.m.  Dr. Griswold is partnering with WPHS to share her passion about finance with students and parents.  This presentation is open to all 
McDonough County high school students and their parents.

Topics will include:
  •  Begin with the End in Mind
  • Strategies for Minimizing the Cost of Attending College or Career Training
  • Understanding Student Loan Debt
  • The Impact of Student Loan Debt on to your Future
  • How to “Stand-out” as a College Graduate

Dr. Melissa (Phillips) Griswold was raised in Tennessee, Illinois, and graduated from Colchester High School.  She completed her PhD in finance from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln after attending Western Illinois University for her BS and MBA.  Melissa has taught finance for over twenty-five years.   She is currently an Associate Professor of Finance for Maryville University in St. Louis.  She is touring high schools to talk with students and parents about strategies for making the most out of career training while keeping student loan debt to a minimum.  Dr. Griswold is also the author of Smart Bitch Dumb Dog: Make Financial Success a Walk in the Park!
